Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth technical and scientific due diligence on target startups, such as evaluating their tech defensibility, intellectual property, competitive landscape, regulatory roadmap, and other scale-up risks. While not a core part of the role, the associate should also be able to conduct general business/market research to help inform the team’s investment decisions.
• Prepare investment memos, presentations and quantitative/qualitative analysis including impact evaluation.
• Attend meetings with target startups, GPs, peer investors and industry partners.
• Drive thought leadership via agrifood/techstyle thematic research to develop investment theses, and write external content pieces on industry trends/innovations.
• Engage with portfolio companies and GPs to support their growth and success, monitor tech and scale-up milestones for potential follow-on investment opportunities.
• Work with the broader Fabrica team on other ad-hoc duties

Requirements

• University graduates majoring in Science / Engineering / Technology or other related disciplines; understanding of fields of related to biochemistry, biotechnology, bio-design, material science, food science, textiles engineering. A graduate degree or postdoctoral experience in related fields is preferred.
• 2-6 years of working experience either in academia / research, industry technical research / commercialization (e.g. manufacturers) roles, venture capital in the agrifood / techstyle sectors or adjacent fields.
• Demonstrated ability to comprehend deep technology solutions, analyze data and translate findings into investment-relevant insights. Strong written and verbal communication skills required to engage with technical founding teams and present science-based findings to senior stakeholders.
• Passion for supporting mission-driven founders and driving meaningful planetary/social impact through our investments. Curiosity and strong interest in venture capital and commercialization of tech innovations.
• Proficient in both written and spoken English. Cantonese is a strong plus.
