Soul in Void
This project is motivated by the fear and uncertainty surrounding death. It aims to depict the spiritual world of the afterlife by Buddhism’s concept of reincarnation and Vanitas art. The body is seen as a vessel for the soul, carrying thoughts, memories, and leaving traces. The design components of Vanitas art and the aesthetics of the spiritual world are achieved through the use of biodegradable animal-based bioplastics and fibers made from agricultural waste. These materials symbolize the transience of human life and the cycle of life and death.
