We are the moonbeam co., a food-tech startup doing food waste upcycling. We unleash the potential of food for the sustainable development of the people, the planet, and their future.

Problem
20’000 tonnes of BSGs are generated in Singapore annually, contributing to the 40 million tonnes produced globally. While BSGs are rich in protein and fibre, many countries treat them as waste due to their poor taste and texture and incinerate them.

Solution
We collect, process, and convert BSGs into granola, creating commercial value. Our proprietary processes make the BSGs crispy, allowing us to tap into their nutrients and prevent wastage by enabling their consumption. We contribute to food security through more efficient use of resources, reduce food waste, and related emissions.

Opportunity

There is immense commercial opportunity. The breakfast cereal market is worth US$73B. Trends and data show that people want healthier snacks that are also sustainable.

Our product is uniquely positioned for the impending megatrends.

Beneficiaries
Environment aside, we will serve:

1. Breweries/Food Companies
BSG producers benefit from disposal when they work with us. This can improve public perception when they engage in socially responsible initiatives.
2. Government
We reduce the pressure on waste disposal and the country’s nutritional needs when we channel BSGs back into the food supply.
3. Consumers/Food Establishments
They get sustainable, nutritious granola and alternatives that suit their lifestyles.
4. Youth with Intellectual Disabilities
We will work with, and provide them with work opportunities. Approaching differentgroups for such initiatives is in the works.
